Lax Kw’alaams

Today it begins, we make our way north to Lax Kw’alaams, a beautiful community roughly 35 km outside of Prince Rupert. We have a team of 15 RVTs, veterinarians, and veterinary assistants traveling from across Canada to set up a field veterinary clinic. Thank you to Air Canada and Aeroplan for supporting our efforts across Canada. The team is pretty excited to meet our community volunteers, including some from the BCSPCA, as well as the teachers and students who are coming by to visit us while we work away. During the 3 working days we’ll be hosting a number of school tours to showcase what we do while we’re here.

Here we go!

Beautiful scenery everywhere
It was a windy one!

Our clinic will be in full force for three days starting tomorrow. We plan to offer vaccinations and health exams, as well as spay and neuter services for the community pets of Lax Kw’alaams. We’ve been told they have a significant feral cat population as well, which we hope to support through vaccines, spay and neuter.

Looking forward to getting our team together and exploring a new community! We’re leaving Prince Rupert soon to make our way north to set up our clinic in the Elder’s Lodge. Let the good times begin!
